Michelle MASTANDREA, LAVALLE, MURRO, DI PAOLO

palazzo @ 23:12

I am also researching families from Palazzo. My relatives came from Palazzo San Gervasio through Ellis Island in the 1900-1909 time frame and went to Cold Springs, New York to work in the foundry. They then moved to Newark, NJ prior to 1920 and lived there till they died. My family names are Mastandrea, Murro, LaValle, DiPaolo. My Great Grandfather was Francesco Mastandrea born 28 Sep 1878, his parents were Antonio Mastandrea and Antoinette LaValle. My Great grandmother was Maria Ippolita "Pauline" Murro born 3 Dec 1879 and her parents were Guiseppe Murro and Teodora DiPaolo. Francesco and Maria immigrated in 1908 and 1909. I have found that a lot of people from Palazzo went to Cold Springs, NY. My great grandfather always called them his Paisanos (according to my dad) but I wonder if they were saying Palazzos. I would love to get more information on these families and hoping someone have some information. I actually live in Frisco, Texas. Also my husbands name is Carter Smith (his mother is a Carter and he is researching the Carter line). I would love to hear from Gina Paradiso-Carter and share notes. I do not speak Italian or Spanish so I hope I have filled this out correctly.

Sincerely,
Michelle Sileo Smith

Sandra y Macarena en Palazzo

palazzo @ 15:05

Gracias Sandra y espero pronto tus noticias.

Sandra

Hi Yoni.  Sorry, I didn't understand.  Yes, please give my email address; that is fine.  I don't really have any websites (that I visited) that I can remember.  I first found my great-grandfather by going to New York (Ellis Island) and www.ellisisland.org, I found yours, of course, and also, I found a site for Palazzo; if I knew my great-grandfather's birth-date, I could request a birth-certificate, marriage certificate, etc. through this site.  I will look again to see what it was.  I will also try to get some pictures together of the Paradiso Family here to send.  In April, the entire family will be together.  It is quite impressive that you are a doctor and professor.  Word is getting out through the family about you, and the excitement is starting.

Hola Yoni.

Hello Yoni. I don' t know English but as far as I can see  GINA Paradiso is from of the U.S.  Isn' it?  What place of United States?
I remenber that my grandfather' passport was made to travel to New York. He used to say to be mistaken and he finally took the boat that came to Argentine ....

I wander if the grandfather of GINA was not his companion of adventure. Say this to her and ask to tell you what date was his grandfather for USA to find out if there are similarities.

Unfortunately I don' t know English ... I write through you. A hug .... I still waiting for your phone call caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllll Fernando

Hello Juan Carlos.  I am so excited to hear from you.  I don't have a lot of information to go on.  I began my search recently.  My great-grandfather's name was Antonio Paradiso.  He was from Palazzo San Gervasio. He boarded the Gallia (I don't know when) in Naples and arrived to Ellis Island (New York) on December 19, 1905 at the age of 27 (he was born in 1877).  Ellis Island's records show that he was married when he came.  Records also indicated that he was going to Cold Springs, New Jersey to stay with family.  How he ended up in Colorado, I am not sure.  At the age of 35, in Trinidad, Colorado, he married my (at the time) sixteen-year-old great-grandmother (she was an American born Italian).  We have always wondered, since he was 35 when he married my great-grandmother, if he had been married before?  I would like to find some relatives in Palazzo and find out what happened to his wife there.  Did she die of disease, or was he suppose to send for her and never did?  Did they have children?  Since your grandparents emigrated around the same time, I have a good feeling we are indeed related!  You certainly may post my letters, if you wish, and also, I will send some pictures; I am going to find one of my great-grandfather.  I am also trying to find out his exact birthday so that I may try to get his birth-certificate and marriage certificate from Palazzo.   I do not speak Spanish or Italian, so I very much appreciate your English speaking abilities.  What are you a professor of?  What do you teach?   I live in Pueblo, Colorado.  My grandfather, Rosario Sambino Paradiso (Antonio Paradiso's son) died some years ago; however, my grandmother (his wife) and my six aunts and uncles can't wait to find out if we have close relatives in Palazzo.  My married name is Carter, but I go by Gina Paradiso-Carter. I can't wait to hear from you! Sincerely,Gina

Dear Gina: It is a very good for me to have your letter. I'am Juan Carlos Paradiso, born in Rosario (Argentina). My granfather (Canio Paradiso) and grandmother (Raffaella Abbatemarco) both came from Palazzo San Gervasio in about 1900.

I became so interested in making the genealogical tree that finally I am searching for all people in Palazzo.

I  visited the little city of Palazzo and also I met a lot of people there. Then I have very much relations through the blog and the sites.

I want to know about you and your ancestors. And, if you want, I put your letter and photos in my blog, so you can meet a lot of people palazzese living all over the world.

Don't worry, all are relatives in Palazzo! My research show a lot of crossing between differents families.Y would like to have your family data, so I can remake you tree and see if you and me are relatives. I think so.

But, you know, in Palazzo in 1997 there was 30 families in the telephon directory with the same surname (and only about 5000 inhabitants).

I send you the sites and blog I have,

Looking forward to have your news!Sincerely

Juan Carlos Paradiso (Yoni)

Hello.  Do you speak English?  I came across this email in a website.  My name is Gina Paradiso.  I live in the United States.  I was looking for information about Palazzo S. Gervasio.  My great-grandfather emigrated from there.  Your last name caught my attention.  Are you from Palazzo S. Gervasio?  I could not read all of the site because I speak very little Italian.
Sincerely,
Gina Paradiso
